Abstract
When two objects are placed near each other in the supersonic flow, the shocks emanating from each object hit the body of the other object and affect its aerodynamic characteristics. In this research, the aerodynamic interaction between two slender bodies in the vicinity of each other in a supersonic flow has been investigated. First, the validation of the applied numerical method has been done based on the available experimental results, which are mostly steady. In the following, a three-dimensional unsteady analysis of the problem is done by moving one of the bodies, and the results of aerodynamic interference between two objects are extracted. The obtained results indicate that the aerodynamic interference resulting from the shock waves between two adjacent objects causes an increase in the pressure coefficient and the lift and drag coefficients on the body of each object at the place where the interference waves collide. With the passage of time and the movement of one object along the other object, a change in the position of the interference effect on the body of the opposite object is observed. The amount of pressure increase in the position of interfering waves on the body for the unsteady solution is 24% more than the steady state.
